Merseystate - The Lucky Ones CD Review

Merseystate is a five piece alternative rock outfit with a heavy pop influences, there is however no avoiding that a band like this possesses a great sound and, with that, a hell of a lot of talent.

They have also been featured on many leading television programmes and variety shows. They also enjoy a strong online presence and loyal following. We just had to get our hand on their debut album “The Lucky Ones” and we were not disappointed.

“The Lucky Ones” is one of those albums that gets your attention from the very first song and never lets go. The quality of the production is unmatched in SA and it rivals some of the best internationally.

The lyrics seem heavily thought about and meaningful while all the songs run smoothly and at a good pace. Also, the singing sums up Wayne (vocals) as a great South African singer-songwriter. I can imagine everyone singing along to a lot of these tracks on here.

The most impressive songs on the album are: ' Sing, Sing, Sing, 'New Jersey Girl', and finally 'The Pledge'. Overall the songs contain great hooks but it’s the music that has a certain charm that will draw you in.

Merseystate is doing a lot of good in the South African music industry, my only hope is that we see a whole lot more of them in the near future.
